I use painter’s tape to mark the depth. It’s easy if you use the bar code’s line to put the tape straight.

Cut the beer can from top to the point you marked (like in the picture).
I don’t usually measure the width but the narrower you cut, the better it looks.
Also, cut them as even as possible.
AGAIN, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CUT YOURSELF WITH EDGE.
