San Francisco Artist Larry Baumiller creates art from found objects, mixing sculpture, textile art, and a theatrical vision. I curated this show in Oakland that combined wall hangings, bags, hats, vests, and 2 dresses (I was the fit model) all made from men’s neck ties. None of the ties are cut up, there are silk, wool, polyester, and ties made of some material call “Wemblon”. We also put the collection up in 2 storefronts. People really are astounded when they realize how all of the pieces are woven like baskets, and just how many ties are there. He now has about 2500 in his collection.
