Bo-tito, robot toys made with post consumer plastic
It was born from an initiative that promotes care for the environment, creativity and social inclusion.
It’s called Bo-tito Ecoguardian and it’s an articulated toy robot , designed from household post-consumer plastic containers.
José María Rodríguez and Daniela Czajkowski are the creators of this triple-impact venture that promotes social inclusion and care for the environment , resignifying waste through design and innovation.

Bo-tito is a doll made entirely from recycled plastics and the axis of a national enterprise of recycled toys that, during August and in the context of Children’s Month , joined in a solidarity action with the international NGO Smile Train , dedicated to treatment and training of Cleft Lip and Palate (FLAP).
What is Bo-tito?

Much more than a toy and something more than a doll made with everyday plastics, Bo-Tito arrives to express a problem and propose a solution.
“The lack of education regarding the excessive way in which we consume plastic , the importance of resignifying this waste as a raw material for other market objects and also the way in which it is discarded to avoid its deposit in landfills or landfills. open ”, list its creators.
Thus, Bo-tito becomes a super toy robot and an iconic character identified with “the individual responsibility at a social and environmental level. He invites us to action, to reflection and to generate experiences of socialization not only of waste but of participatory conduct”.

Bo-tito is created in two formats : one that comes assembled , like a traditional toy doll, and in a kit to assemble.
The first is an articulated sculpture the size of a shampoo bottle. The “assemblage” method is used, which consists of joining different materials and objects in such a way that a three-dimensional effect is achieved.
The innovative thing about this technique is that they are connected to each other by an elastic multifilament cord for textile use that slides through the perforations strategically made in each individual piece that makes it up.
In the second Bo-tito format it comes in the form of a DIY kit (do it yourself) with which you can learn the assembly technique to assemble your own Bo-titos.

In this way, the toy also contributes to stimulate fine motor skills , develop creativity and distinguish shapes and colors.
“All the Bo-titos have friendly factions and do not carry weapons, since their power lies in transformation, in inclusion, in generating actions of change and in giving us the gift of creating second chances”, say the creators of the initiative.

Each Bo-tito can be different from one another; is recycled, recyclable and repairable , since his spare parts are in every home in the world without distinction of social class. And the average life of it is 400 years, which takes plastic to degrade.
Jose Maria “Boti” Rodríguez is also a motivational speaker for private and public actions with environmental awareness, spreading the revaluation of everyday waste through a playful and creative look at what others call discarding.

On the other hand, On Smile Train ( smiletrain.org) empowers local medical professionals with training, funding, and resources to offer free comprehensive cleft lip and palate surgery and treatment worldwide.
“We promote a sustainable solution and a scalable global health model in healthcare, dramatically improving the lives of children with clefts, including their ability to eat, breathe, speak and ultimately thrive,” they explain.
