In 1965, Clark Gum Company had a promotional booklet “How to Create Gum Wrapper Sculpture” that you could mail away for. It featured the Gum Wrapper Art of 13 year old Robin Halprin of New Jersey.

Chicago Park District leaders are shown learning the art of gum wrapper sculpture from its creator, Robin Halprin, 13 year old New Jersey honor student. Miss Pearl Goodrich, Art Craft Supervisor, and P.J. McCarthy, Assistant Park District Director, will incorporate the new art form into arts and crafts classes in Chicago parks this summer.

Robin said her hobby began when the other girls were making chains of gum wrappers for their boy friends to wear as belts.
